What is Adalat Chrono

This drug has a generic name Nifedipine, which is known as a calcium channel blocker drug, mainly prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure) and angina (chest pain). It dilates (widens) blood vessels and allows heart to pump blood easily through arteries and veins. This drug may also be used for other purposes which are not listed here. Nifedipine is sold under various trade names including Procardia, Myogard (manufactured by UPM), Nicardia (manufactured by Unique), Nifelat (manufactured by Cipla), and Adalat Chrono (manufactured by Bayer Healthcare).

This drug produces peripheral and coronary vasodilatation, lower down afterload, peripheral resistance and BP. It increases coronary blood flow and causes reflex tachycardia. It effects little or negligible on cardiac conduction and rarely shows negative inotropic activities.
